Pawn loans must be repaid with interest within 30 days to avoid forfeiture of the item securing the loan. However, you always have the option to only pay the interest portion of the loan that month and the loan will roll over for another 30 days. There is no limit on how many times you may take advantage of this service. 

If you do not repay your loan within 30 days, Alabama State Law gives you an additional 30 days to redeem your items before we can legally sell it (you would then owe interest for two months.) Additionally, items not redeemed by the customer do not affect your credit rating.

What items can I pawn or sell?

  • Jewelry: gold and silver jewelry, coins, bullion, dental gold, gold metals, scrap gold, etc.

  • Weapons: rifles, pistols, shotguns, bows, crossbows, paintball guns, knives, swords, etc. All weapons must be in working order, and if it’s a gun, please provide a magazine.

  • Tools: hand tools, air tools, power tools, compressors, ladders, drywall tools, carpet tools, tool boxes, welders, pressure washers, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, tillers, generators, space heaters, air conditioners, etc. Tools must be in working order and contain battery and charger when applicable.

  • Audio/Visual: HDTVs (must have remote and must not be older than 3 years), blu-ray players, DVD players, digital cameras and camcorders (must have charger), home and portable stereos, iPods and MP3 players, etc.

  • Musical Instruments: guitars, banjos, trumpets, violins, flutes, drums, clarinets, saxophones, keyboards, amps, microphones, etc. We prefer that instruments have cases, but we will make you an offer on an instrument without a case as well.

  • Video Games: We accept most game consoles and games (recent and vintage models).

  • Computers: desktops and laptops (newer models only). Must have an LCD monitor (any size accepted).

  • Electronics: eReaders, iPads, tablets, and most cell phones are accepted (must be free and clear from a contract).

  • Other: binoculars, fishing tackle, major brand golf clubs, DVD movies, advanced calculators, and MANY MORE ITEMS… just ask if you don’t see your item on this list!

  • A pawn is another term for a short-term loan based on the value of an item you bring and leave with us until the loan is paid off. If you cannot pay off your loan in full, just pay the interest charges and renew your loan for another month. You may renew your loan as many times as needed. If you fail to return after a specified time (30 days after your last payment was overdue, according to state law), we have the option to sell the item. However, our goal is to help you out and retain happy customers. If you cannot make the interest payments but really don’t want us to sell the item, give us a call and ask us to hold the item an additional month; we’re nice guys and we will do all we can to help you get your pawned item back.

  • At Gold, Guns and Guitars we normally offer ⅓ - ½ of the current used retail price of the item. Items easier to sell, such as gold, diamonds, recent video game systems, power tools, TVs, guns, etc. will usually have a greater loan value. We are happy to give you a quote over the phone (this will just be an estimate and will be contingent on the condition of the item when you bring it in), but when we can see the object for ourselves, we are able to do some quick reference work and make you a loan offer realistic with the item’s current value.

  • We make every effort to test items before the loan or purchase is made. If we can’t test your item, we won’t take it!

  • Our employees have training and can often tell if jewelry is fake by looking at it. We also have some of the best electronic testing equipment to test the jewelry for its authenticity, so we can be certain the Gold, Silver, Platinum or Diamonds are 100% authentic.

  • Unfortunately pawn shops have gotten a bad rap for buying stolen goods, but regardless of what you’ve seen on TV, or in the movies, less than half of one percent of all pawned merchandise is identified as stolen goods. This is because every item pawned or sold to us must be reported to the local law-enforcement authorities and run against their stolen goods reports. Our staff is trained to be able to identify stolen goods, and we work closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies, making our pawn shop one of the worst ways to try to sell stolen property.
