Gold, Guns and Guitars is eager to help the residents of the Florence and Muscle Shoals area get the most money possible for their items, and since consignment lowers our risk and overhead cost, you can typically make a few more dollars than by selling it to us for cash.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Consignment is simply when a customer agrees to let a third party store and sell their item, but they retain ownership of that item until it is purchased by a customer. It is understood that the consignee (the person storing and selling the item) only pays the consignor (the person giving the item) after the item sells. The consignee charges a fee for selling the item, usually a percentage of the item’s final sale price.
-
Often times your item will sell for near retail price and you only pay us when and if your item sells! The fees are relatively low for consignment so if you are willing to be patient, you can often get more money out of your item by letting us consign it than by selling it directly to us for cash.
We also provide increased exposure. It is much easier for us to sell your item than it is for you. Items in our store are seen by hundreds of customers on a weekly basis and if your item is priced right, it will very likely sell.
-
If you need quick cash, consignment probably isn’t right for you. There is no guarantee how much your item will sell for in our store or if it will sell at all. After 60 days we may ask you to come pick your item up if it has not sold, or we may ask you to renew the contract and we will continue trying to sell it.
-
You do not owe us anything. We will either renew your consignment contract after 60 days or ask you to come pick up the item.
-
Our software tracks every piece of consigned merchandise. When a customer buys it, our system will automatically notify us that a consignment sale has been made. We will contact you by phone or email to let you know a check is waiting for you at our store.
-
We accept full responsibility for your item while it is under our roof. We will pay you a pre-determined price for your item if it is missing or damaged.
-
Anyone is welcome to consign an item with us. We only accept consignment items we expect to sell for $50 or more.
-
Our fee structure is as follows:
20% on the amount up to $999
Items of $1000 or more will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. -
Before we accept any item on consignment, we let you choose a minimum price you are willing to accept for the item. Your minimum must be reasonable or we will be unable to take the item in on consignment, as we are only interested in consigning merchandise we think we can sell. You will never receive less than your stated minimum for your item. We will sell your item for as much as possible! Remember, our commission is based on how much we sell your item for, so we have every reason to sell it for top dollar!
