We Buy Gold!
Have you ever wondered how pawn shops calculate what they will pay you for your gold—and if it’s even fair? We are here to help! Gold is measured by the troy ounce. What a troy ounce is worth depends on the karat and gram weight of the gold item. The value of gold changes daily, just like the stock market. Check the box on the right for a current precious metals quote, as well as the calculation chart to the right.
After calculation, we pay 65 cents on the dollar for your scrap gold. This built-in margin protects us from the sometimes wild price fluctuations in the precious metals market which may occur during the required 15-day holding period required by Alabama state law. It also covers our refinement costs, shipping, and insurance.
Do you have gold coins, silver bars, or silver rounds you need to sell? We pay 80 cents on the dollar for any precious metal in bar or coin form.
We also buy diamonds and other precious metals, such as silver, platinum, and palladium. We use special electronic testers and sensitive scales on site to test the authenticity and exact purity of the items without having to scratch or damage the item. Within just a few minutes you will receive a top dollar offer for your metals or diamonds!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Gold prices have backed off slightly from their all-time highs but are still near historic highs. Now is a great time to sell your unwanted, broken, or scrap jewelry, as well as the gold coins or bars you have had laying around for 10 years.
-
The first step is to obtain the gram weight of your item. We then use an electronic tester, which gives us the exact karat (percentage) of gold in your item. It is not usually necessary to do a “scratch test” on your jewelry to give you a quote! The old fashioned testers had to damage your gold in order to test it accurately. Thanks to modern electronics, this is no longer necessary.
-
Your cash payment is based on the gold karat and gram weight of each piece. Gold, Guns and Guitars uses the Monex.com spot price value per troy ounce. We offer 65% of the item’s melt value for scrap gold and 80% of spot for gold or silver rounds, coins, or bars.
-
It doesn’t take much gold to get some serious cash! With gold well over $1,000 per ounce, even a single piece of scrap gold can sometimes be worth $100 or more.
-
No problem! We can remove those items and buy them separately (if they are worth anything) or return them to you and buy only the gold. We also buy diamonds and other precious stones!
